MOVEMENT/ ENGINE

The Seiko SNK809 is powered using the Seiko Caliber 7s26, automatic movement. This is a basic 3 hand automatic movement, with extra functions. The extra features of this movement is a day and date indicator on the 3 o’clock position. On top of that, it has a 40-hour power reserve and also operates on 21 jewels. Other information about the movement can be found in this link.

SURFACE APPEARANCE

The first thing that attracts us to this watch is the innovative way of combining the hour and minute markers. Instead of the usual hour markers placed on the outside of the minute markers, this watch places them inside the surrounding minute markers.

Another thing which attracts us is the hands. For the hour hand minute hands, they are using a similar version of a sword hand, but not exactly it. For increased visibility, the luminous coating is applied for the glow in the dark effect. I really like the second indicator, which looks like an arrow hand combine with a lollipop hands on the end. That extra red coating or paint on the second hand also gives a very nice detailing.

On top of that, the crown is also placed at the 4 o’clock position. Lastly. We also like the canvas strap which is very similar to a typical leather strap with the tail and buckle. Two metal tangs are also used for the tail of the strap to secure in.
